Shadowed

When I visited Hoover Dam in Nevada it was a late afternoon in November.  Although the sun was still out things were becoming shadowy, which added to the drama of the scenery.  I had the opportunity to stand on an observation deck with an unobstructed view of the dam.  It was so massive that I just stood and stared at it for a long time.  This picture shows the shadow of the bypass bridge against the dam.  After that I walked on the sidewalk toward Lake Mead and I could see shadows forming there too.  Here is some of what I saw.

Adventure!

Venice is a place that I think of when it comes to adventure.  Part of the fun of finding interesting places there is to step away from the crowds and find scenes like this.  Where is the gondola going?  It could be anywhere but it certainly looks as though they are gliding toward an adventure.

Split-Second Story

It was time for lunch and I was looking for a place to get something to eat as I was walking along the Champs-Elysées near the Place de la Concorde.  There were a lot of people on the sidewalk but if you looked to the right there were food stands along the way.  As I continued walking I spotted this place that seemed to have a variety of things to eat as well as cold drinks and hot chocolate.  This is what I saw from the sidewalk.

In case you’re wondering what was available I’ve included this closeup.  I liked that there were hot dogs as well as crepes and even ice cream.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Threshold

Today I visited Williamsburg, Virginia and the weather was perfect.  It was the kind of day that made me believe that spring is really here.  As I walked from the Visitor Center to Colonial Williamsburg I saw this tunnel that provided a preview of bright sunshine and an entrance into a new season.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

It was an afternoon in May when I was taking a walk where I saw the Puerta del Sol in Madrid.  The weather was changing from rain to sunshine and some blue sky was beginning to show.  I noticed a glass domed metro entrance and these reflections.  This is what I saw.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Treasure

For me the opportunity to travel is very special.  While traveling I look forward to each new day and wonder what interesting things will happen that could become treasured memories in the future.  A sunrise like this provides a glimpse of the day ahead.
