Future Spring Flowers

Although it’s still winter I can’t help but think about how nice it will be when it’s spring.  And spring means cheery, colorful flowers. I thought I’d create a scene with lots of flowers and gardens to help get through the rest of the winter.  It’s a reminder that it won’t be long before there are blue skies, warm sunshine and the beginning of a new season.

I’m looking forward to spring – the sooner the better!

Winter to Spring

There have been some interesting variations in the weather this January.  First it was cold and snowy, then it got warm and over the weekend there was a tornado warning.  Now it’s cold again and it might snow in a few days. After all this I’m hoping for an early spring!  I’m going to Florida (Orlando) in a few days and it will definitely be warmer than it is here. I’ve checked the extended weather forecast and it should be warm and sunny while I’m there.  I’m looking forward to seeing some flowers too.  They are always so cheerful and provide a hopeful reminder that spring will be returning, and the sooner the better!

Welcome to Spring

It isn’t quite spring yet but it won’t be long now!  There have been some warm days recently and I’ve seen lots of cheery yellow daffodils in bloom, but because it is early March the days can be chilly.  Still, it’s only a few weeks until the beginning of spring and then we’ll be seeing this:

I’m going to England later this month and I’m looking forward to many new adventures.

Almost Spring Again

Now that it’s March I know it will be spring soon.  I was out for a walk at a park and when I saw all these hopeful signs of spring I know it won’t be long now.

Just a few more days and it will be spring!

Simply Flowers

Some of my favorite memories are of the flowers and gardens that I see when I travel.  When I was in Italy a few months ago I couldn’t help but notice the bright and colorful flowers.  Here are some that I especially liked.

At the Park

This past weekend I visited a park on a perfect spring day.  I followed some tree-lined paths where I saw flowering dogwoods as well as fresh new leaves on the trees.  There were lots of other people out walking as well as families enjoying picnics in shady areas.  I even discovered a waterfall along the way.  It was delightful to simply follow a trail and admire the sights.

It’s really spring!

Travel theme: Outdoors

One of the most interesting places that I’ve spent time outdoors is Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  When I was there it was a lovely day in May and warm enough not to need a jacket.  Gatlinburg is a great place for walking and some of the things I remember seeing include a bridge, a bench, and flowers, both in a garden and in the mountains.  Speaking of mountains I went on a gondola ride for a panoramic view of the area.  This was a time when being outside was a wonderful experience and it also reminds me why I like spring so much!

Searching for Spring Flowers

One of my favorite subjects for this blog has always been flowers.  When I look through all the pictures that I’ve taken while traveling there are flowers, whether I saw them on walks in the mountains or even decorating the outsides of buildings.  Spring flowers are charming because the bright colors are especially welcome after the winter.  Today I went in search of flowers and I was happy to find all of these.  I also like the colors of other spring accessories such as bird baths and planters.  It is starting to get warmer outside and the days are longer.  It really looks like spring!

Almost Spring

After some snow and ice earlier this week the sun has reappeared, the weather has gotten warmer and the snow is melting.  I thought that today was perfect for a drive to Williamsburg.  It was warm enough outside that I could carry my coat and even sit on a bench and enjoy the sunshine.  Many people were in shorts and tee shirts so I’m not the only one that thought it seemed like spring.  Although it is still early in March I saw a few flowers in bloom.  I was also looking for scenes that featured the color orange for this week’s theme and I found it in the bricks of the buildings and sidewalks as well as flower pots and other accessories.

It is getting closer and closer to spring…

Travel theme: Sparkle

I was in Barcelona in the spring on a particularly bright day with blue sky showing behind some fluffy clouds.  I took a long walk along La Rambla and ended up by the water.  The Rambla de Mar was ahead and I continued my walk.  There was a sidewalk where I saw a large sign describing the area.  As I looked around there were many rows of boats in the sparkling water.  It seemed to me that the water and the blue sky were exceptionally bright that day.  It was a peaceful scene.
